Fail2Ban is a log-parsing application that monitors system logs for symptoms of an automated attack on your Unix-like server. When an attack is detected, Fail2Ban automatically adjusts the firewall rules to block the IP address of the attacker, either for a set amount of time or permanently. It is commonly used to protect against brute force attacks, particularly those targeting SSH, FTP, email servers, and web applications. Fail2Ban is an effective tool for enhancing server security by dynamically preventing unauthorized access.
