IPv4

IPv4 is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol, which is the set of rules that governs the format of data sent over the internet or local networks. It is the primary protocol for routing traffic across the internet. IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers, often displayed as four decimal numbers separated by periods, like 192.0.2.1. Due to the limited number of addresses, IPv4 has been supplemented by IPv6, which allows for a vastly larger number of addresses.
